This 1960 Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite was the subject of a refurbishment circa 2015 under prior ownership, with work that included a repaint in a metallic shade of light blue, installing a replacement black soft top, reupholstering the cabin in black, and rebuilding the 948cc inline-four, the brakes, and the suspension. Following the refurbishment, the car is said to have starred in a television commercial for US Bank. Equipment includes a chromed luggage rack, 13″ steel wheels, fender-mounted side mirrors, bucket seats, and a tachometer in addition to a four-speed manual transmission. This Bugeye Sprite was purchased by the seller four years ago and is now offered with service records, photographs from the refurbishment, and an Illinois title in the seller’s name that lists the car as a 1961 model.
Finished from the factory in Iris Blue, the car was refinished in its current shade during the refurbishment. Exterior details include a replacement black soft top, a chromed luggage rack, and a single exhaust outlet. Paint chips are noted by the seller.
The 13″ steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and are mounted with 165-series Metric Radial tires. The brakes and suspension were rebuilt circa 2015.
Trimmed from the factory in blue, the cabin was disassembled and reupholstered in black during the refurbishment. The seats are equipped with lap belts.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 100-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 11k miles, although the seller tells us that this figure does not represent total mileage.
The 948cc inline-four featured dual SU carburetors from the factory for a rating of 42.5 horsepower and 52 lb-ft of torque. The seller tells us that the engine and other mechanical systems were rebuilt circa 2015, and photographs in the gallery below depict engine-out work as well as a collection of service invoices.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors, identification numbers, and a build date of May 3, 1960.
